A Little Birdie Told Me: A Roomba for the Garden

"A Little Birdie Told Me" is a series of blog posts where we highlight news from other media and write a bit about how their content applies to The 30 Bird's mission of educating and supporting people as they make lifestyle changes through healthier food choices.

A Roomba for the Garden

The creators of the wildly successful in-home vacuum robot, the Roomba, are working on a weed pulling robot for gardeners.  The solar-powered garden sentry, named the "Tertill," is likely the first of many such innovations to come in the not-too-distant future.  This is important to us at The 30 Bird; it means that robots like the Tertill will be available to more small and medium sized gardeners to provide a cost-effective means of providing herbicide-free weeding and will likely soon include watering and non-pesticide pest control features as well.

Garden robots will eventually help bring down the cost of clean, purely organic gardening and make truly organic fruits and vegetables even more widely available.
